Hi

A friends PC had major problems. Internet Explorer would not load and after a short while 'IE ERROR' appeared and would generate >100 error box displays. I firewalled the PC and ran the Lavasoft Adaware software which removed 750 (yep, 750) bits of spy/malware. AVG could then be updated and removed 5 trojans and the Sasser worm (all using the system recovery off/on protovcol to prevent re-infection or further problems). IE now works fine and the system is clean..but, it is slow. Task Manager shows a mega high cpu usage from realsched.exe. Terminating the process works fine, but how do I stop it from causing problems without them ending the process everytime they turn on the PC. One suggestion from Trevor/Roger/Mitch was to sort it out from msconfig. Does this have to be in 'safe mode' and what is the precise protocol from start to finish to affect this. Or, is there another way to prevent this

Many thanks

Andy

Go to Start / Run and type msconfig / startup tab / uncheck unwanted program
/ ok. Jym

Hi Andy,

According to this:
http://www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/realsched/

It is an application that is a scheduler program for the RealOne
player that prompts for update.

This was posted by Shane here:

"To get realsched.exe off your startups for good... Click Start, and
then click Run. (The Run dialog box appears.) Type regedit then click
OK. (The Registry Editor opens.) Navigate to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run In
the right pane, delete any values that refer to realsched.exe, and any
other app that you don't want running at startup. This reg folder is
for startup items only, you will still be able to load and run these
programs effectively. Hope this helps."

Good luck
