BobbiM10 said:My laptop has a slot to put in the card directly. The adapter came
with the micro card. The adaptor and slot both work with a smaller
capacity micro sd card that I had in the house but the 8 gb card is
just not seen. There are no error messages.

Sorry about that. OS is Win XP MCE Ver 2002 SP3. Laptop is HP Pavilion
dv8300t custom ordered July 2006. Card is Kingston micro SDHC with a
Kingston micro SD adapter that fits into the computer's SD slot. I also
tried a USB card reader with no success. My older 256 MB micro SD card is
seen by the computer using the Kingston adapter or USB reader. I found an
article by MS for a hotfix for this exact problem but it was for Win XP SP2.
I tried to install it anyway and it said my files were newer because I have
SP3. Info on SP3 said it fixed the problem but I'm now assuming the computer
is the limiting factor. My Verizon ENV Touch phone can see the Kingston
micro card and can copy photos to it so I know the card is not the problem.
I've been reading about this on the hp website and now believe the
limitation is the card slot on the computer. I'm going to buy a 2 gb micro
card (not hc) and should be OK with that.

May not be a driver problem. I had an external card reader, atech,
which had the same problem; the 256 mb, 1 g & 2 g were recognized;
no luck with the 4 gig.
Went to the atech's website & found that my model cannot do above 2 gig;
I did get the card-reader around 2006.
Did some research to find which card-reader can read memory cards above
4 gig & got one; the lower prices of card-readers helped alot.
microSD cards above 2GB are microSDHC cards. microSD and microSDHC
card appear and have the same physical size but the "internal"
electronics are completely different.
I had this prob with 4gb and 8gb, I found that if you first try load on a laptop or your phone, they may read the card, if so, put one song onto the card, then you can use the card as normal. Hope it works for you. stonyboy.Use Windows XP, media center edition, sp3. Card reader works with regular
