Although I get this automatic update from Microsoft and I okay it's
installation, I get the message: This setup will only upgrade over an
existing version of the Microsoft VM. I keep getting notice of the upgrade
and can't get rid of the icon in my system tray. It makes me want to turn
off the automatic upgrade option, but then I won't get proper maintenance.
How do I get an existing version to stop notice of this update? Thank you to
anyone who can help this from driving me crazy!

Hi

Take a look at this post by Jim Byrd to get some information on how to add
MS JVM to your OS installation::

If you are running Windows XP with no MS JVM installed, start with
installing v. 3805 (disregard that the post say Win2000 SP4, it will
install on WinXP as well).

Build 3810 is the last version of M/S VM click on the link below to see what
version you have installed.

If you don't have 3810 you can also download it at this site.

If you don't have MS VM installed and don't want it, you can switch to
V5 of windows update. That will allow you to hide what you don't want.

To use V5 when you go to the windows update site type in v5 for v4 in
the address box. It will install the new interface files.
