I just reinstalled Windows XP SP1 and it takes 6 minutes
each time I startup XP plus tons of time for every step I
take. What can I do to fix this, thanks.. Jerry.

If you connected your fresh SP1 to the Internet, you are now infested
with Blaster and if you browsed web sites, you likely have spyware of
many different varieties on your system. Turn on the Internet Connection
Firewall immediately. You are lucky your system runs at all.

I recommend Ad-aware SE Personal edition to remove the spyware, then get
thee to Windows Update and install SP2, or at least update all the
critical updates preceeding SP2 availability to close the holes that are
vulnerable.

Are you out of free space on your hard drive? When is the last time you
defragged your hard drive?
