I just got a new computer with Windows XP as my OS. The
56K modem that came in the computer (U.S. Robotics
Controler Modem) only connected to my ISP at 28.8 and
sometimes only 26.4. Needless to say, I was not happy.
So, I purchased another modem (V.92 PCI Broadxent Modem)
and installed it. It connects consistently at 26.4! :-
0 The modem in my previous/old computer running Windows
98 SE (using the same phone line and modem line, sitting
in the same place) consistently connected at 42, 44, 46
and sometimes 48.
What 56K modem works well (connects at a decent speed)
with Windows XP?
