have a new Dell Inspiron 9300 using McAfee virus and firewall.

I just setup Outlook 2003 to handle several mail boxes from verizon and MSN
(using connector).

When I send emails from the Verizon accounts or MSN accounts in Outlook,
McAfee pops up with a box that says protocol error. When I click on the
protocol error link I get the following message "550 5.7.1 authentication
required"
The emails are showing in the sent box but are not being received.

Any suggestions on how to fix?

Thanks!

First, remove McAfee's integration with Outlook. Don't scan incoming or
outgoing messages with an AV product. It's unnecessary and can cause issues
with the communications between Outlook and the mail servers. Next, do what
the message says and authenticate to your outgoing server. Naturallyy
enough, you do this on the Outgoing Server tab of your account properties
pages.
