I just upgraded from Windows 98 to XP Pro and my 5 port usb 2.0 PCI card is
not recognized correctly and I can't find a driver. Does Microsoft have a
generic driver I can use? I have the packing slip for the card but it doesn't
have the maker.

I seem to recall that Microsoft also had a "fix" driver for USB 2.0. I do
not know if it was "rolled" into SP2.

You need to install at least SP1, and I would install SP2 from the free
CD to get the USB 2.0 drivers. There is an update of the SP1 ones at
http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=kb;en-us;822603 but I don't think
they would work on a pre-SP1 system.

Just been to a friends house who had bought a PCI USB2 card and he told me
it didn't work. He hadn't installed the drivers from the CD which came with
it, he expected it to work straight off. XP didn't have generic drivers for
it so if you don't have the Install CD look mfrs. site for XP drivers. Also
as Alex said make sure you have SP1 or SP2 installed.
