Well, you have a 32-bit version of Windows XP. The 64-bit version
is only available if you are running a high-dollar Itanium processor.

You have the 32-bit version. *Everyone* who asks this question
has the 32-bit version. If you had the 64-bit version, you'd know
it by the two large dents in your wallet--one for the extra
expensive version of Windows, the other, even larger one, for the
very expensive special hardware needed to run it.

Unless you are running software specifically written and compiled for a
64-bit processor (very little around yet, including Office), then your
system's performance will actually be degraded on a 64-bit machine.
Your version of Windows XP is 32-bit.

Start menu, run Type "cmd"
at the prompt type edit and press enter
if the edit command runs than you have a 32 bit version. this command is
disabled on the 64.
You can find more info under help and support searching for 64 bit.

If you have to ask, you *don't* have a 64-bit system. It's not the sort of
thing that happens by accident without you knowing about it.
