Hi,

30day trial version of Frontpage 2002 crashes when opening a web-page
(created using MS' templates). More details
1. Platform: XP Pro (SP2)
2. Office XP Standard (SP3)
3. I have already tried the following:
1. Run Detect & Repair
2. copy and paste: %UserProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\
Web Server Extensions\Cache into Start Run and Click OK, and
delete any files that exist with the .web extension.
3. Then go here: C:\Documents and Settings\%UserProfile%\
Application Data\Microsoft\FrontPage\State and delete the file
named Cmdui.prf

Please help!

See if you can install all of the Office XP updates.

Hi Stefan,

Thanks for replying. Here are the results
* I CAN create/save a new page blank w/o crashing?
* I CAN create a page from any of the page templates
* I CANNOT create a new site from any of the template

Please advise

Thank you

Hi Thomas,
Thanks for respoding. I have installed *all* office updates. The office
update size says that no (more) product updates are required.

What are you entering for the name (location) for the new web
and at what point does it crash or give you an error (what error message)

It fails when the location is either 'My Documents' or any other folder on my
hard disk.

I just get a report-problem-to-microsoft error message. I have submitted the
problem to OCA already (through this dialog). Some details of the crash are:
AppName: frontpg.exe
AppVer.:10.0.2623.0
ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0
Offset:736f7263

Hope it helps debugging..

BTW, I belong to the 'Administrators' group on my local machine. I have 'Full
Control' permissions for the folders where I am creating my website.

Once the wizard generates the files it presents me with a list of tasks. The
crash happens when I either run a task or I click on a web-page to edit it.

Hope it helps

Did you reapply the Office XP SP (1-3) before you installed the trial?
- If so you need to reapply them after the install of FP

Stefan, I downloaded the 57MB SP3 but couldn't apply. I got a dialog box
saying that it has already been applied and it cannot be reapplied.
Help->About says that it is FP 2002 with SP3! Still crashes in the same place.

Any ideas how to get out of this situation? Can I get a 30-day trial version
of FP 2002 (with SP3 bits applied)? Looks like this is the end :-( Can you
suggest any alternative to FP?

Thanks in advance.

Help! What can I do now? The 30-day trial is useless for me.

Has Microsoft released 30-day trial bits of Frontpage 2002 with Office SP3
applied?

I'll appreciate your help. I cannot buy unless I try it first.

Thank you

Why not get the 30 day trial of FP2003, since FP2002 has been replaced by FP2003 any way.

That would be even better :-) How can I get it?

At this time I won't buy. Frontpage has to work on my computer (XP SP2) with
other Office XP Sp3 applications.

Thanks

Has Microsoft released 30-day trial bits of Frontpage 2002 with Office SP3
applied?

I'll appreciate your help. I cannot buy unless I try it first.

Thank you

:

Stefan, I downloaded the 57MB SP3 but couldn't apply. I got a dialog box
saying that it has already been applied and it cannot be reapplied.
Help->About says that it is FP 2002 with SP3! Still crashes in the same place.

Any ideas how to get out of this situation? Can I get a 30-day trial version
of FP 2002 (with SP3 bits applied)? Looks like this is the end :-( Can you
suggest any alternative to FP?

Thanks in advance.

:

Did you reapply the Office XP SP (1-3) before you installed the trial?
- If so you need to reapply them after the install of FP

It didn't help. It has either a trial of FP2003 on runaware.com which won't
create a web-site on my computer *or* a 60-day trial download of Office 2003
(which doesn't have FP).

Anyone in Microsoft - Please help. I can't use my FP2002 30-day trial even
after installing all upgrades. I am sure you'd have FP2002 30-day trial bits
that works with Office XP SP3. Can I have that please?

Thanks in advance

You would need to contact MS directly about the issue.
The FP 2002 trial is no longer offered, only 2003.
