SWBell email account
Hotmail
Laptop

I have outlookexpress setup on 3 computers. The problem is on my laptop. I
am receiving 3 messages for every 1 message sent to my SWBell email account.
Occasionally, 3 messages will display for Hotmail when I first start Outlook
but the messages clear out in a few minutes. The SWBell account never
clears out. If I send email from work, 3 messages show up. It is always 3
messages displaying on my laptop ONLY.

Do anyone have an answer as to why it does this?

Any suggestions on how to resolve this problem?

Regards,
T.

I found the following in the forum:(don't know if it will work)

http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/faqs/why.htm#dupes
That can happen if your Hotmail or IMAP account is the default mail account
and OE is configured to both open directly to the Inbox (which downloads
headers automatically) and check for new messages when starting (which also
downloads headers automatically). To stop the duplicates, simply choose one
option or the other, but not both. Click Tools | Options, then remove the
check mark for "When starting, go directly to my 'Inbox' folder" OR the
check mark for "Send and receive messages at startup". If you already have
duplicates showing, click Tools | Synchronize Account or Synchronize All.

What planet are you from? This is OE NG!!!

The message was cross-posted in the Outlook and Outlook Express newsgroups.
I did not see that when I posted my reply.

The posting I found and pasted in my posting above did not solve the
problem.

Do anyone know how to solve the problem?

Hi Taishi,

I didn't see it mentioned, but the Hotmail name.dbx folder can become
damaged and cause duplicates.

To resolve this issue, quit Outlook Express, rename the Hotmail Name.dbx
folder, and then download the folder again:
1. Quit Outlook Express.
2. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
3. Include hidden files and folders (Windows 2000 and Windows XP).
4. In the Named box, type Hotmail*.dbx, and then click Find Now.
5. For each file that is found, right-click the file, click Rename,
and then change the extension to xxx.
6. Close the Find Files window, and then start Outlook Express.
7. Click Send and Receive, and then click Hotmail account.
