Where do you find the 3 gig switch in XP?
It is a switch which you can add in bootini.
The switch must be there because the entire operating system must be
reconfigured to allow user space to be 3GB.

Boot.ini. It is part of the OS load line, eg:

multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP
Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn /3gb
