3.2gb (11,000 files) under Docs & settings but can't find the files

Under WinXp there are a number of users in the Docs&settings directory. Most of these have a few megabites but one (the original user setup on the notebook) has 11,000 files and 3.2gb. This is what is shown under 'Properties'.

When I select each of the subsirectories in WinExplorer, in this user's director, there is virtually nothing in there. So I don't know were the 3.2gb/11,000 files are. This is causing a problem as I need to release this 3gb from the 10gb partition (C:)

Any ideas would be gratefully received. Thanks

SequoiaView is an excellent free (and clean) utility to track down
mysterious missing drive space.

It provides a one window graphical representation of which files are taking
up how much space where on a drive, often tracking down files that Windows
is reluctant to reveal.

(I should add that it's fun too) :-)

Thanks for the suggested software, it worked well. The offending files are in Docs&settings..../localsettings/temp.... and they just continue on down

WinExplorer doesn't display the directory .../local settings, so can you suggest how I can get these directories displayed and then delete the rubbish in /temp

Look for ward to more words of wisdom

Thank

I've worked out how to display /localsettings/... - they are system files/directories so I selected for these to be displayed from control panel. Thanks for your help - I now have 3+ mb extra disc space

Any idea how all these files got into local settings/temp or how they can be deleted automatically?

Thank

Clive

Check the Temporary Files box in Disc Cleanup - or don't you ever bother to
run it periodically?
