2nd try - Looking for a free alternative to Camtasia

if capturing the screen is what you want in video you can try
microsoft media encoder 9 that is good,
and creates a wmv file.

Camtasia 3 is an advanced product.. you will have to combine
many freeware to get what that one program can do.

There is a camtasia that is freeware..that only records the screen to avi...
if you want it tell me...

I wasn't even aware of that, thanks. I don't really like .wmv format
but it will do if I can't find another option.

I'm skeptical about that, I did a search and found no mention of a
free version.
