2nd Hard Drive problem

Just installed a 2nd hard drive to my system but everytime windows starts i
get an error message... 'disk drive has not passed windows logo testing to
veify it's compatibility with windows xp' The drive is recognised in My
Computer and as far as I'm aware it has no O/S. If I choose to stop the
installation and keep working everything seems to be fine.. any ideas!?

Ignore the message. Then go to Control Panel - Admin Tools - Computer
Management, select Disk Management and look lower right for the graphic
of the drive. There will probably be a partition set up by Maxtor
software; r-click in it and Delete. Now r-click in resulting
'Unallocated space' and Create Partition, going on to format
 
BACKUP ALL THE DATA ON THAT DRIVE FIRST! You wouldn't want to loose any of your data. If you've got space on your C: drive, you can copy or zip the data to it.

Ok, so I did all that was suggested with ignoring the message and going into
disk management. There was no section of the drive being used by anything at
all, no partition by Maxtor and no unallocated sapce. Formatted the drive
once again then restarted the sytem, upon startup I got the same
authentication message, don't know what's happening here, maybe I'm just
gonna wait till I can buy a brand new drive but I don't understand why I
could install this drive on another system without any problem what so ever,
strange.... thanks for your help!
