Hi,
I have 2 computer connected to an ADSL router which then connect to the
internet.
One is running XP PRO sp1 and 2nd one is XP PRO sp2 (with firewall).
Both connests to internet no problem, but for some reason i cant get them to
access each other..??
The computer names/descriptions does show up on each others My network
places (under MSHOME), but when i double click it , it takes some time and
then the error msg comes up saying i dont have permission or something..

I suspect its the firewall issue on the sp2, just to test and see, i turned
off the firewall off on that computer, but to my surprises, the issue still
remains..
so now i m really confused and dont know what to do.. HELP~~

A few problems could cause this,

first be sure you have "File and Printer Sharing on Microsoft Networks"
installed on your network card for each machine.

second, be sure you have a folder shared

third, check to see if you have simple file sharing on.. if not you must
have the same username and password on both machines to access each other. To
check for Simple File sharing, open Windows Explorer, click on Tools, Folder
Options, View Tab, scroll down tothe bottom of the Advanced settings, you
should find a "Use simple file sharing (Recommended)" line. With this off, XP
set security on all the files and folders, only local users can access the
files then.
i.e. you have two choices...
1. Use simple file sharing
2. Don't use simple file sharing and create the same user/password on both
machines.

have you create the same username and password on both computers? this troubleshooting may help, quoted from http://howtonetworking.com.

.... is not accessible

Message: "....is not accessible. You may not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions. Network path was not found."

Resolutions:
1) make sure no any firewall blocks the LAN traffic.
2) make sure you have created the same workgroup, and the same username on w2k/xp for logging on a remote computer.
3) check user's rights.
4) you may want to enable guest account on w2k/xp.
5) if you are using simple file sharing, you may try to disable it and re-share the drive manually.
6) if it is mixed OS (win98, NT, ME and W2K/XP) network, enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
7) make sure the Computer Browser service is started if all computers are w2k/xp.
8) stop Computer Browser service on win9x, ME and NT if this is a mixed OS network.
9) cache credential by using net use \\computername\share /user:username command (it is better to have the username logon shared computer).
10) if you have tried enabling netbios over tcp/ip but doesn't work, you may try to load netbeui (loading netbeui may slow your network).
11) Make sure the server service is running.
12) If you can see the share in Network Neighborhood but not access it, this issue may be resolved by verifying that both the share permissions and the NTFS partition permissions are correctly configured for individual user or group access.
