2C.lop and OnlinePCfix problems

I use the software Spybot to find and remove adware. It has recently
been freezing and I have discovered that its at the 2C.lop bug and its
not removing it. Also, I cannot access Internet options in IE6, (see
above) which means I cannot change my Home Page and have had to accept
one which was not of my choosing. I paid for a service from OnlinePCfix
and they then recommended me to install the full version of SpyFerret
and gave me a key which meant that I got it free. Fare enough, (as far
as it goes) but this has not removed the bug which is hardly surprising
as it does not have it listed amongst its targets, whereas although
Spybot freezes when it arrives at 2C.lop, at least it has it listed in
its list of bugs.

I have seen methods of removing 2C.lop via the registry but I am not
proficient in that area and would not like to interfere with my system
reg.

Can I ask two questions...

1. is there a safe way of removing 2C.lop and getting back my ability to
click on Tools, Internet Options and then fix my own home page.

2. How can I tackle OnlinePCfix to get my money back or alternatively
persuade to respond to my complaints, up to now I have had only one
response for my money.

Thank you for any help in this frustrating situation.

I negelected to add, the fact that OnlinePCfix could not fix it is expected
with lop. You will find out whu when you read the link I gave you in the
previous post.

Spybot fixed the c2.lop problem some time ago. That is, the problem
was that Spybot was freezing at that point, which did not mean that
users had it. The temporary workaround was to put it in the Excludes
list.

More importantly, (for me), and something Maureen I would like you to
suggest a solution is that when I click on Tools in IE6 and then
Internet Options I am told "This operation has been cancelled due to
restrictions in effect on this Computer. Please contact your system
administrator". What do I do about that, I don't want to re-install
Windows XP. I would be grateful for help on this, thank you so much.

I'm not one of the experts here, I'd just encountered the same problem
with Spybot.

As for this problem, I think you only need to log out and log back in
under your identity as administrator. One person, two different hats.
Windows Key L should get you there.

Thank you anyway Maureen, I guessed I would have to tackle the
administrator issue and was warned by my PC tech man, (before he got
flu), that this might take a while to do so I will wait until he
recovers rather than tamper with passwords etc.

Regards,

Excuse me for popping in, but 1) be sure you've updated Spybot which
takes care of the program hanging problem; 2) when you scan with the
updated Spybot, be patient. It *does* seem to hang when on the C.Lop
item, but it will move on in a few minutes.

| Regards,
Please try this. Go to Spybot and the Immunize Section. There is a Recomended Miscellaneous Section there that might be checked off. Try unchecking the "Lock IE control panel against opening from within IE (current user)". Would love to know if this works for you. I had this problem, posted here and someone (I think it was Graham Hughes?) sent me to Spybot. It worked!

I will try all of this, I am really bothered by this almost insuperable
problem and really need your help, much thanks.

I will do this Maike but I do have the latest version of Spybot, (it
says), and have left it a long time to fix the freezing, however, I
will really leave it for a good while longer and will report back to you
tomorrow.
Much thanks,

A small breakthrough, it allows me to access Tools, Internet Options
again, (great) but the option to change my home page is greyed out. So I
have got further in being able to get the Internet Options box to open
only to find the home page option greyed out, Oh Dear!

I am afraid I can wait until the "Cows come home" and Spybot will never
get passed the wretched 2C.lop.
I await Sir Galahad, (or Lady Galahad), to ride in on a white horse with
"the solution".
