24 bit PC vs. 32 bit PC??

We're upgrading my work PC from Windows 98 to Windows 2000. The company that
sold us the PC (it's called CDF; the PC is 5 years old) told us we need to
buy a new PC cuz our old one is a "24 bit" system and Win 2000 needs a "32
bit" system.
This sounds fishy to me.

Is it true?
If so, what IS a 24 bit system and/or a 32 bit system? (What specifically is
measured as 24/32 bits?)

Is it possible to just upgrade 1 part for this compliance?

Perhaps he means a 386/486 cpu?
Anyway, if your pc can run win98, it will probably run
win2k.(90%)

Min (workable) requirements: >=pentium/amd k6 cpu ,64 mb
ram, hd >3gigabytes (windows fills 3 gig with updates etc).
Suggested: 128 or more ram, p2 450 or higher, 8 gb HD or
higher.
If you have a p3 300mhz, you can work comfortably in office

If you can post your pc-specifications? (aida32 is a pc-
recognition tool, see google)

Your PCs will be able to run Win2k but i think you may have some performance
and installation problems. I think getting new workstations will be a good
idea.

You are certainly running a 32-bit CPU don't worry. The color depth can be
measured as 24-bit or 32-bit. If your work is related to design/graphics
32-bit capable video adapters will be better. Still this is not a
prerequisite for Win2k.

I think you are getting jerked around. The only things that came as "24
bit items" are scanners and graphics adapter cards and that is a
specification for color depth.
