Hi,

I'm using Outlook 2003, and recently installed Firefox 0.9. After install FF
and setting it to my default browser, I continually got one browser open,
and then a Locate Link Browser dialog. I figured I'd give Outlook what it
asked for, and browser to the firefox.exe executable for the link browser.
Now, everytime I click a link in Outlook I get 2 FF browser windows open
with the requested page.

I've done some googling, and the only result I ever find is a KB article on
Outlook 2003 on Windows 2000 using Netscape 6.2, that basically says
"install a newer version of Netscape". Well I'm on Windows XP using the very
latest FireFox build, so that doesn't help me much...

Anyone have any ideas how to stop this small annoyance?

Set Internet Explorer as the default again and see if it is working now.
Then set Firefox as your default again.

Tips of the month:
-Backup and Restore
-Create an Office XP CD slipstreamed with Service Pack 3

I'm also having this problem, and Roady's solution didn't work for me --
after switching back to Firefox, I still get the "Locate Link Browser"
dialog.

Yes, you would still get the dialog but do you get double windows after
you've set it to the executable of FireFox?

I'm getting the same thing here.

With Firefox set as my default browser, when I clicked on a link in Outlook
2003, I'd get a browser window with the selected link loaded, PLUS a "Locate
Link Browser" dialog box. That was going on for the past couple of days.

Today, when that dialog box showed up, I pointed it at the Firefox
executable. Ever since then, whenever I click on a link in Outlook 2003,
Firefox opens two copies of the target page.

I tried switching my default browser back to IE, which opens only one page
per link. Then I switched back to Firefox, and it still opens two pages for
each link.

If anyone has hint at where to fix this, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks,
Mike

Since it works for IE and Netscape had the same issue as you described; Time
to ask in a FireFox newsgroup?

Hi there,

The link you are looking for is:

It's an error in the way that FireFox registers. I
suggest disabling the DDE - cleaner, because you don't
have to edit the DDE string.

Hope that helps,
Mark

Is it just me or is their forum down? The link to their forum is disabled at
the top of the page as well (not on the right side though)

Yep, I *always* get the double browser if I complete the Locate Link
Browser
dialog. If I don't, then I always get the dialog... either way I end up
with
a window or dialog I don't want :)

I have this Double IE Browser Window problem too, using IE 6, not any other
browser. How can I reset this setting to see if It will correct for me.
