i installed xp, but since i was having a problem while
trying to install xp in c drive, i ended up installing it
in d drive, now i think there is both windows 2000 and xp
in my laptop, i want to get rid of 2000 and have only xp,
if thats possible. how do i go about it, without crashing
down my computer. also, if i remove 2000 will i have more
disk space and will there be any problems later on after
removing windows 2000.

Apparently, you selected "New Installation" during the initial
setup phase instead of "Upgrade". Now you have two Windows
operating systems residing in the same partition. Backup your
important files and perform a "clean install" of Windows XP.

You can go into my computer, and format that drive from that location. If it
does not boot up after formatting the drive, change your BIOS boot sequence
to boot the cdrom drive first, and then run the repair from the XP cd, and
this will reestablish NTLDR and the system should work fine.
