I stupidly disabled the Workstation Service which then
affects some other services. Problem is that "Manual"
start of this service is no longer available. Is there a
workaround for this? Can this be enabled outside of the
Services dialog? If you have any idesa, either reply to
this post or to the email listed. Thanks, JAK

Hi John,

How did you disable the service?

In:
Right click My Computer / Manage / Services and Applications / Services /
Right click Workstation / Properties then Startup Type you should be able to set to Automatic

You should then be able to right click Workstation as above and click start

Alternative 1:
"net start workstation" at a command prompt (without quotes)

Alternative 2:

Recovery Console
229716 Description of the Windows 2000 Recovery Console

check out the LISTSVC and ENABLE commands

ENABLE

enable <servicename ><start_type>

So "ENABLE WORKSTATION SERVICEE_AUTO_START"
