i tried to reformat my hard drive and have ended up with 2 XP editions . how
do i uninstall one of them ??

Perhaps you have not really 2 editions. When you format your disk by using
the windows xp installation cd the file c:\boot.ini is not corrected. This
means the your old installation and the new installation appears in the
section [operating systems]. When two lines are listed after this section in
your boot.ini and the lines are identical, you can remove one line and the
problem should be fixed.

Just edit with notepad

notepad c:\boot.ini

Before you can edit the file, you have to remove the readonly flag in the
properties of the file.
