I'm roughly familiar with basic networking with win98 & win2k but not really
competant with xp. I have my desktop and laptop both using win xp. Neither
computer can access eachother. The desktop can see the laptop but can't
access anything since a pop-up saying "might not have permission" .
The laptop can't access the workgroup at all saying I "might not have
permisson to
use this network resource"

please help

Mike,

The most common cause of this problem is a personal firewall.

If your firewalls aren't the problem, run browstat and look for a browser
conflict.

Paranoia is not necessarily a bad thing - it's a normal response from experience.
