Delete the "boot folder" for the one you don't need. WinXP won't let you
delete its own boot folder, so if you try the one that is currently running,
you'll get an error message. So, boot into the one you want to keep, tell
Windows Explorer to delete the other one.
By default, WinXP's boot folder is named \Windows. If that name is already
taken, WinXP Setup will create a new name, perhaps \Windows(2) or something
similar. (When WinXP is installed as an UPGRADE to an earlier Windows, it
inherits the name of the boot folder it is upgrading; that's why my boot
folder is \WinNT, since I upgraded to WinXP from Win2K.) The "boot folder"
is the one that holds Win.ini and all the many subfolders, such as System
and System32.
A few users have reported success with two Windows installations in a single
partition, but Microsoft and most experts advise strongly against this.
