Hi hoping someone can help
I have somehow ended up with OLK 2003 having in the folder list two sets of
personal folders, one on top of the other they are identical, and I am not
sure how this happened? Which one can I delete?
as well on right clicking I am not getting an option to delete

You should have an option to Close, not Delete.
If you don't, then you have a corrupt profile. Create a new one.

Do you mean a whole new pst?
and then import the old messages ? contacts etc?

No. Not at all. Your PST file is fine. I said create a new Profile and
configure it to use this PST.
Something you did (like trying to migrate data incorrectly) corrupted your
profile, not your PST.

What is the best way to delete and recreate a profile in OLK 2003 I have
just started using it and am not familiar with it

Control Panel->Mail Icon->Show Profiles->New. Do not copy your old profile.

Post all replies to the group to keep the discussion intact. Due to
the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

After furious head scratching, Blacklab asked:

Take a look at this MS KB article, it may help:
