2 OS to chose from at start up

I recently cleaned my hard drive and re-installed Windows XP. After
installing XP, I went to microsoft.com and updated all my software and
hardware drivers. Somewhere along the line (I had to restart my computer a
number of times), something happened that caused my computer to have me
choose between 2 OS's (both the same MS Windows XP Home Edition) before
Windows fires up.

Is there any way I can resolve this? Usually the 'first' MS Windows XP Home
Edition is selected--either by me or by default after countdown, but once I
tried the 'second' MS Windows XP, I got an error message and the cpt recycled.

Thanks, as always, for any help regarding this!

Edit the BOOT.INI to eliminate the unwanted entry...

How to edit the Boot.ini file in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/289022

"Start" menu > "Run" > Type msconfig > Go to "Boot.ini" tab > Click "Check
all boot paths" and follow the steps.
