2 Network Cards - 1 Internal facing local network - 1 External facing router with ISP config

Im unable to access the Internet through the External facing card
UNLESS the internal facing card is disabled.

After searching for over an hour through groups and a multitude of
websites for different ideas or ways of solving this problem im
finally resorting to begging for help in a group. ( Apologies if this
is the wrong one, ill re post somewhere else if need be, just let me
know ).

Ok here goes.

Ive put an extra network card into the machine i use in the office
( Im an IT Admin ). Was having some issues with WCM / Proxy and
Firewall blocking me from time to time from accessing websites.
Finally got annoyed enough to stick an extra network card in my
machine and connect it directly to the router that is configured with
all the ISP details. With only Windows XP SP2 Firewall in between.

So ive got 2 NIC's ( 1 on board Intel + 1 generic PCI )

As i said ive looked over ALOT of group posts as well as internet web
pages, so ill quickly detail what ive already tried.

Ive configered both cards with static address's.
The on board card with internal IP/Subnet Mask (NO Default gateway)
The PCI NIC with the ISP IP and the router as the Default Gateway.
( ive also tried setting the default gateway on the internal NIC with
the external default gateway with no joy )

Ive also looked into Metric's. Changing the External facing card to
have a lower number (Higher Priority) also with no joy. (i also
changed the internal card to have a higher number, no luck there
either.
I also tried to use the "Route change" cmd line but got p****d off and
ended up doing it through windows XP/network connections properties
for both the TCP/IP and Default gateway Metrics.
AND ive also tried doing it through the registry, ALSO with no joy.

Barring in mind god knows how many Disable/Enable , log off , log on ,
reboot attempts.

ALSO barring mind that the internal network goes through a proxy, ive
entered an removed and chneged it to the ISP Default gateway, STILL
with no joy.

I think thats what ive tried in a multitude of different combinations
and im just about at the end of my tether.

Any help what so ever relating to how i can solve this issue will be
MUCH appreciated.

( Please don't post asking about why im doing this, just HELP ME
PLEASE ! )

Forgive me for possibly sounding uninformed, but it sounds like it might be
easier to try and solve the original issues. Good luck, Scott

The WCM is there for productivity control over the minions and the
proxy is there for security. Both these systems work and have been in
place for a while. My problem was that from time to time they are
annoying for me as i wish to get to a site that maybe catagorised as
something that lower level user shouldn't be looking at or the proxy
for one reason or another blocks it. This is why i have finally got
annoyed enough to just add another PCI network card and run a cable
direct to the external internet facing router for a direct connection.

This all finally leaves me in the position of having the issue i
originally posted about.

If anyone has any ideas for something i havn't tried or has come up
against this is the past and figured a work around. Please let me know.
