The All Powerful

Hiya, I have 2 horrible problems which are causing no end of headaches...
Was owndering whether anybody could help... I'll start with the shortest and
(hopefully) least complex first:

1) I have 2 hard drives, one Master, with the OS (Win XP Pro) on it, and the
slave is simply storage with loads of videos. Recently, it disappeared from
'my computer'. Partition magic can see it, but if I click on it I get this
message:

Error #1611 Bad system file name, file 9 (48)

What does this mean and is there any way of sorting it without losing the
data on the HDD? (There's 70 GB plus of data, and it's all huge files...
hard to backup)

2) Several months ago we had a mini power cut, which shut down win XP. At
the time, this computer had the bradband modem attached to it (through an
NIC card), and acted as a server, sharing the internet conenction to my
other computer.

When I booted back up again, although windows showed all of the network
connections, and claimed that they were all functioning correctly, I could
not acces them. The broadband wouldn't work, and windows claimed it couldn't
see any other computers on the network.

I have tried removing and reinstalling the NIC cards without success.

I have tried renewing IP addresses, and setting static IP addresses with no
success.

I have installed ME on a seperate partition of the HDD, and it has no
problems accessing the network...

Any ideas? Computer info:

Pentium 3 1.4ghz
1.12 GB RAM
Windows XP Pro SP1 (updated to latest regularly from website)
2 HDD - 1 40 GB Master with OS, 1 180 GB slave as storage.
2 NIC cards, both netgear, 1 operating the broadband, one connecting to
netgear Hub

Thanx in advance!

The All Powerful,

I'm not a network guy, but the following newsgroup may be a good place to
try posting your problem;
