I have now learned that outlook and vista don't like each other and I don't
like having to reset the password every time I open the program. I used
outlook for business and windows mail for personal. If I add the business
email to windows mail as a second identity, is there an option I"m missing to
have mail for one go to a specific folder and mail for the other to its
specific folder?

As you've discovered, Outlook versions older than 2003 do not
work well with Vista.

Yes, you can keep personal and business mail separated.
In Windows Mail, go to Tools, Message Rules, and the
rules wizard will walk you through creating rules like this:

1. Where the message is from the Personal account
move it to the Personal folder
and stop processing more rules.

2. Where the message is from the Business account
move it to the Business folder
and stop processing more rules.
