Why do I see two copies of my "Personal Folders showing in the tree? They
both unroll and are looking at the same .pst file in the same location. How
do I delete or remove one of these from this view?

Hi Mark
All you need to do is right click on one of the personal
folders (not subfolders) and select "close" this will then
remove the folder from the list, as for why it happened
then its likely that you added it at some point in the
past without realising it. I have done it myself some times

Hope this helps

David,

Thanks for the help. Only problem I have is the "Close" option is grayed out
on both Personal Folders. Any other thoughts or guesses?

Thanks again,

Mark

Do not open Outlook but right click on the icon. You
will see a list of your personal folders. Click on one and
remove it. If you had seven pst files, you could click on
one click properties and see which one was which.

Hi Mark
Only other thing I can think of at the moment is to try
going into Control panel, and then into the Mail icon and
see if the personal folder is listed in there twice ?? If
its not that then I am a bit stumped to be honest, perhaps
an MVP might be able to assist ? Sorry

What version of Outlook are you using? We should be able to remove the
duplicate with no problem if you can tell me the verion.

I have two copies of the personal folder and Outlook 2002.

One of these should work:

1) Right-click one and choose Close.
2) File>Data File management. Select one and choose Remove.
3) Create a new mail profile with Control Panel's Mail applet.

1) worked. It took a second. I am embarassed that I could not find this my
self, but I tried 'delete' and thought that 'close' would mean 'remove
temporarily' (like closing a file.
Thank you very much for helping the simple-minded
