I've scanned for malware, spyware & virses with nothing been found, but my pc
still runs at 100% cpu on what ever programm i'm running, and basically it's
doing my head in. Just while im typing this is running at 100% with nothing
else running, what i know that is. If anyone knows whats going on please help
me, cos im thinking of throwing it out the window :-) Regards Mark.

Download Process Explorer.

For further information about Process Explorer see here:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/SystemInformation/ProcessExplorer.mspx

To ascertain which service is causing the problem select the process
producing the high CPU usage, right click, select Properties,
Services. Note there are the full names and some explanation of what
each service does.

You will find further information on Services here:
http://majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=12

To trace the particular Service involved you need to turn off each
service in turn and then restore it noting what effect it has on CPU
usage. However, you need to take care and watch what other Services
are dependent on that service. When you click on the Dependencies tab
allow it a little time to display the information.

*what* runs at 100% CPU? Opening Task manager and sorting by CPUtime should
show what is running, and what is taking up all your processor capacity. At
this time, if things need further clarification you should proceed with
downloading the tool mentioned by Gerry.

Hi Gerry & Robert

Which version of Windows Media Player? The latest is causing problems
for some!

What is your graphics cards?

Tip: To copy select Report, Quick Report, Plain Text, highlight
required text, right click and select copy. However, whilst this is
fine for posting small amounts of information into newsgroup messages
longer reports will irritate other newsgroup subscribers.
