1394 firewire fix

hi i am a musician who is going to be using a firewire intewrface for my i/o
and in monitoring a few chat rooms ran across a problem supposedly in xp/pro
that would band limit the interface to 100 as opposed to 400 how do i
discover if my machines have or need the fix...... help my wizard....trizen

You are describing a situation that was true -- or at least, was widely
rumoured to be true -- in the past. There were even a couple of companies
that produced 1394a drivers for XP. However, XP now supports the full
throughput of IEEE 1994a (400 Mbps) and 1394b (800 Mbps).
 
hey ted thnx for the info... was hoping it was something like that.... too
many opportun ities to screw up with a system like this..... was easier when
i had to worry about tubes..... kudoes for the help... ever near stlouis
stop in for a brew... or...
 
I remember going with my Dad to the local drugstore which had a vacuum tube
testing machine. That was in the days before transistors.
