I have the most unusual problem. I have fixed decimal places on -- set to 2.
When I enter 102. (102 decimal), the cell value is entered as 1.02. I want it
to be 102.00. I can't figure out how to change this setting and my computer
seems to be the only doing this in the office. Spreadsheets are coming out
wrong b/c 102. is habit -- not 102.00.

anybody....got any ideas! PLEASE!

For Excel2000

Tools -> Options -> Edit

Is the "fixed decimal places" box checked? If so, un-check it.
Did that help?

That's what Fixed decimal was built to do: scale your input.
Uncheck it and just Format your cells to two decimal places:
Format>Cells>Number and choose one of the options

I was playing around with the "Fixed Decimal" option. When I enter "102" it
is converted to "1.02" but when I enter "102." it is converted to "102.00".
I think the OP is trying to figure out why "102." is not being converted like
mine.

I want and need the fixed decimals checked b/c I don't enter decimals EXCEPT
when entering whole numbers. I have always entered numbers this way. Never
was a problem until the recent computer switch.

I have checked with other computers in the office and their excel input
works with the decimal override (I guess this is what you would call it).

For example, if I enter 357 I want the cell to be 3.57... This works fine.

If I enter 120 I want the cell to be 1.20... this works fine....

If enter 120. (enter a hard decimal), then the cell should be 120.00....
this works on everyone elses excel but mine!!

Any more ideas. (and by the way thanks for everyone's help)

Sloth -- That's it exactly!!

You probably have Excel 2003 while the others have earlier versions,
there was a change which has made many users unhappy

If you're running Excel2003 then I think you now have to enter 102.0 instead
of just 102. to override the fixed decimal places. This new "feature"
doesn't seem to have gone down too well.

Several minutes of Googling bring up this link

Thank everybody so much. You helped me figure out why I was having this issue
and my co-workers were not.

All of us are on 2003 but they are on SP2 and I was on SP1.

So, once I upgraded to SP2 my issue was resolved. So it looks like MS did
fix this!

Once again, thanks. I thought that it was an "option" to turn on or off.
