100% CPU Utilization when accessing com port

Hey,
I'm just wondering if anyone knows of any specific method
of preventing XP, 2000 or NT from utilising 100% of the
CPU when accessing the Com Ports?
Is there Registry hack to prevent this?

We use the same serial printers and software on both 98
and nt/2k/xp, yet this does not occur?

What changed between NT and 98 when it comes to the
handling of the COM Ports?

You need to dig deeper to determine what is using the ports.

Task Manager is useful but you could look at another freeware utility Process Explorer, which provides similar information but adds that little bit extra towards seeing what the running processes represent. For further information about Process Explorer see here:
