My computer generally runs at 100% regardless of the
program I am using. Even the idle process can reach
100%. Is this an indication of corrupted windows or is
there a download available that will fix this? I am
operating on windows XP

Open up windows task manager, select process and scroll
down and find the affending *.exe file . Then report that
file name and post here

Reflect on the meaning of the word 'idle'. When your computer is idle, you
should expect the System Idle Process to show 99%.

Have you run an antivirus program? This happened to me,
and I found my antivirus program had been mysteriously
deleted. I reinstalled, ran, and found a virus. Deleted
it, and problem fixed.

I have a similiar problem where my rundll32.exe is
running at 99%. I am running XP prof. and I just put sp2
on the machine several days before I noticed the problem.
I have not tracked down what kicks off the rundll32.exe
but once it starts running I cannot stop it through the
task manager I have to reboot. I am running norton
antivirus with auto updates and I have not detected any
viruses. I'm not sure what is going on at this point but
if I find out anything I will let you know. If anyone
else has experienced this problem please let me know.

"I have not tracked down what kicks off the rundll32.exe..."

....a virus.
