By any chance, do you have "Log on using Secure Password Authentication"
checked? It shouldn't be. Tools, Accounts, Mail, Properties, Servers

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no
protection not provided by the regular resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.

tere is nothing wit antivirus at all. all scaning arfe switched off...must be
something else ((

For some antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton or
McAfee, or a recent version from Trend, just disabling the program
is not enough. You have to uninstall it, and sometimes run a cleanup
program to take care of what the uninstall left behind.

Also, if your connection to the outgoing email server crosses over
from one internet provider's equipment to another's, and the
connection uses port 25, such connections are often blocked to
cause problems for spammers.
