A couple of days ago my Outlook 2002 running on Windows
XP stopped working with POP3 and SMTP. Each time I do a
send / receive I get a message stating that the server is
not responding. I have made sure that all service packs
are loaded and I have done a detect and repair. I have
also removed all my add-ins and I have tried disabling
antivirus and firewall settings. The problem continues.
Any suggestions?

FYI - there are several threads above with similar problems. I have same. If you find anything please let me know - (e-mail address removed) - send me your e-mail and I'll do the same if I find a solution.

I was running OE connecting to 3 POP3 account to get my email. I have
recently started to use Outlook 2002 SP-2 and find that one of my
accounts keeps reporting this infamous 0x8004210a error. If I go back
to OE it works fine.

What I have also found is that if I run OE and then Outlook (both
loaded at the same time) and then exit OE, Outlook continues to works
fine.

It appears to me that OE must be loading a DLL that Outlook then uses.
I haven't had the time yet to explore the details of this but thought I
would share this clue with the forum.
