0x8004210A - any cause other than NAV?

I've been receiving this error all evening and the only cause I know is
NAV's script checking. Now, as those who know me will tell you, I don't use
NAV, I use AVG (totally updated). I'm running 2003 on XP Pro (with SP1). I
turned off AVG's email checking, but that's not helped. There are 7 messages
to be downloaded and the error occurs on the second one. My ISP are
completely useless (they claim that no such error exists!) And they only
have one procedure anyway, and that's to recreate the account and that very
rarely works (if ever!)

Some of the queued messages are urgent replies my father's waiting for from
the other members of his golf club board. Is there any way to delete the
offending message and download the rest?

He's really not a happy bunny at the moment!

Thanks
