Hi - I reinstalled Windows XP Home from scratch (ie re-formatted the partition) on my C drive, and the whole thing died - ie Windows XP will NOT startup.. the CD-Boots but none of the programs on it will run.

When I run the Repair console or the Windows XP Installer from the CD, once I have asked it to run something.. R or Enter.. I get the Registry Error.

DOES ANYONE know how to fix this problem.. so I can get the CD to run installer or recovery??? OR Something to search and fix my reg error???

I am totally stumped as to how I can get my machine running again! Its nearly first semester and I need my computer...
THanks in Advance.

Have you had any luck yet?? I have been down for several days, also with the registry error. Reboot from CD doesnt seem to matter- eventually it tries to open windows, I get the welcome screen for a few seconds then it shuts down and returns to the registry error screen. Have tried all other repair, recovery methods I am aware of with the same results. I was hoping maybe you had found a solution....

Sorry - nope no solution... I was really holding out for this

I have EXACTLY the same problem as you... windows is still there but won't start up...

I am about to go spend some money I think... I hate Windoz

Go into your BIOS software setup and set the boot order to boot to the CD-ROM device ONLY...this forces the machone to boot from the CD-ROM device....Windows will setup from there, in a perfect world...
