Recent File Drop-down List

Windows XPH Excel 2002

When I click "File" on the Taskbar, recently accessed
Excel files don't appear at the bottom.

Tools > Options > General shows "Recently Used File List"
grayed out, and I can't select it.

How to I re-enable this feature?

It's a kb article about using TweakUI and Office XP (excel2002)

I use win98 and the files shown under windows start button|Documents aren't
affected by xl2002's setting for the MRU.

The setting in xl affects what appears at the bottom of the menu when you click
