Re-post for "getting blank screen after login" (more information)

I am getting a blank blue screen after logging into xp home edition. This
occurred after my computer froze when I was changing permissions via "safe
mode". Now I cannot use windows (normal or safe mode). I boot up fine, get
the login prompt, enter in my id/passw, login prompt accepts, and then it
just goes to a blank blue screen with nothing on it. I press alt+ctrl+del
and get the task manager that displays my id as logged in!!! I can also view
the running processes!!! I am very stumped by this problem. Please help
me. I hate to repost a question, but let me add some more helpful info to
this. I have tried booting into "safe mode", "recovery console", and "last
known configuration" and I get the same thing. Thing ONLY thing I can do is
to boot to a c:\. From there I can see that all of my files are still there.
I'm willing to bet that when I tried to set permissions in "safe mode" the
freeze set all permissions to "deny" for every login id. Thats why task
manager shows I'm logged in, yet I cannot see anything but a blank screen. I
don't know for sure, please I need your expertise!

Hi,

What were you setting permissions on? Perhaps some element of the program or
files you were working with is trying to load with the user logon, and you
have removed the required privileges for it to run.
