Online banking download

crash alot

I tried to download rfom my bank. office 2008 wants an ofx file? My bank
offers csv. So I downloaded a csv, saved it, tried to open it, program says
cant use that file. I set it up just as the instructions said. I then went to
banking<download, couldnt get that to work. So I then went to banking<import,
a box came up that said import bank transaction, I found the csv file,
clicked to add to box, says cant use csv file. What is this ofx file this
program wants? Can someone walk me through how to download the transactions?
When I used QB it was just a simple clik and data flowed. If this prgram can
not do this, I need to return for a refund and try to get one that I can get
to work. thanks to anyone that can help

Further to Dave`s helpful link. CSV means Comma Seperated Values. It is the
file format used by most banks to download statement data where the data is
seperated by nothing more than a comma. My bank is no exception and I`ve
never had a problem with it albeit I`m using an older version of Office. In
Office (have to admit don`t know about Office 2008?) you should be able to
interpret the data using MS Excel. Do you have the CSV file format associated
with Excel? I think Office should recognise both formats. OFX = Open
Financial Exchange. Does the error tell you what particular file is missing?

.........Just another thought . Have you used another financial program
recently (and subsequently uninstalled) which may have disassociated CSV &
OFX files from MS Office? Hard to imagine but sometimes happens.
