Non working samsung tablet.

I have a Samsung tablet that is around 4--6 years old. But now it no longer works fully.
It comes up with "Crome" no longer works.So now nothing works except I can view photos,but cannot take any,I can play what games there are on it,but cannot down load new ones.I can read old e-mails but not see new ones. In other words any thing that needs downloading no longer functions
Can some one tell what is going on please.
Could it be that the tablet is old?
