Microsoft Paint

I recently acquired a new Dell computer with Windows XP
OS. In my old computer, Windows 98 SE OS, I used the
Microsoft PaintBox extensively.

My problem is this: I would like to continue using MS
Paint in my new computer but I don't know how to transfer
it, or if, in fact, MS Paint is even configured for
Windows XP...If it is NOT, what is the equivalent software
for XP?

I would appreciate any suggestions.

MS Paint is part of Windows XP, look under START/ALL
Programs/Accessories. Use Start/Run type mspaint When you
select it on the accessories, right click on it and you can
pin it to the start menu and or you can create a shortcut on
the desktop.

Paint should be present in Start - All Programs - Accessories

If it isn't, run Add/Remove Programs - click Windows Components on the
left. With Accessories highlighted, click Details, and click it again
to find Paint, check it and OK

Also, if you want to open a bitmap directly from a file and open it up using
MS paint, you will need to right click on the bitmap file and go to
properties. Now where it says, Opens with:, click the change button. Oh
great; my explorer quit on my computer, which you'll find a common problem
with XP. Anyway, once you've clicked change, select paint in the list under
recommended programs. Now click OK. Now click Apply, then OK on the other
window. Now your bitmaps will open up using MS paint. When I do lots of
editing with bitmaps, I have to do it this way.
