Two (2) Questions

I am running Windows XP2, Microsoft Office 2003, Explorer 6, and Outlook
Express,
and Comcast High Speed Cable Internet.

1. How to stay connected to the Internet?

I used to be always connected to the Internet - Comcast Cable,
but now I have to wait until I am connected.
I did not change anything.
Comcast Phone Help said this is a problem with Outlook Express

2. When I attempt to receive my E-mail, it states that I have 35 to receive.

When I click on receive all -- I receive only 14 of the 35 E-mails,
then it stops and gives an error message.
Each time I attempt to receive my e-mail, I get the identical results.

Your help will be greatly appreciated by this novice user.

Cable broadband is an always-on connection. The symptom is elsewhere
caused.

receive my e-mail, I get the identical results.

Is it a secret error message and why you can't share?

Make sure you have installed all your Microsoft updates installed.

"MAIL COMCAST.NET" is not a valid hostname. Look again. Guess what you
omitted. Hint: There are no spaces in hostnames.

Click Tools, Options, the Connection tab, and try checking the first
item. Also look at the IE settings.

The 15th email seems to be broken. Use Webmail through the Comcast
homepage to read, then delete the 14th through 16th emails, to make sure
you delete the damaged one. The others should then download correctly.

After I read my E-mail on Comcast, will those E-mails also appear on Outlook
Express, when I get it repaired and working again?

I am aware that Comcast High Speed Fiber Optics Broadband Cable is always
connected.

My cable connection had always been connected.

I have not changed anything on my computer.

Now, Comcast must wait until it is connected.
I have phoned Comcast and they said that there was nothing wrong with their
equipment.

A question about the Local Area Network (LAN) Settings?
Should I only click on the LAN setting button, or
Should I check the box for a proxy server?

I really appreciate your willingness to help me.
Most of the computer language is like a foreign language to me.

That is why I need your help.

They will be available on the server till you delete them from the web
interface, or till you use OE. OE's default setting is to remove them
from the server.

last sentence and a half.

OE, and almost every other e-mail client, by default, removes messages
from the server when you get them. *However* OE, and almost every
other e-mail client, gives you the choice of leaving them there. So
it's best to check to see how it's set.

I have my the e-mail client on my desktop computer set to remove
messages it gets, but that on my laptop set to leave them on the
server. I use my laptop to read e-mail while traveling, but I also
want to get them again on my desktop when I return home, so I can look
at them carefully, save what I want, etc.
