Character corruption with Remote Desktop

I recently purchased a Sony VAIO running Media Center. I use it to
Remote Desktop to another XP computer (SP1). The connection is fine,
but while I'm typing, frequently the cursor moves somewhere else in the
document (and the character I had just typed does not appear). Any new
characters I type will be after the new cursor position (which could be
anywhere in the document). It seems to me that I most frequently see an
'i' get corrupted, which would indicate some bit corruption, I think.

The connection itself (wireless) is OK, because it works fine with my
other laptop.

So, I'm trying to determine what might be wrong with my VAIO:

It's not the internal modem - I switched to a wired to wireless bridge
and still had the same problem.

It's not the network - my other laptop works fine.

It could be something in Media Center (my other laptop is XP)
It could be the keyboard itself, but I haven't noticed any problems
when typing locally.

Any ideas? I'm trying to figure out if this is a Sony problem or an
Media Center problem.

Sounds like a more sensitive touchpad/pointer stick and/or weaker internal
wireless card (update drivers, etc..)

Truthfully though - sounds more like the old 'palm touches glide-pad, mouse
moves.

Thanks. I had thought of the possibility that I was touching the mouse
pad, so I typed very carefully and I'm sure I didn't touch it. Also, if
that were the problem, I would have the same problem when typing
locally - and it doesn't happen locally.

I'll double-check the drivers, but it can't be the internal modem since
the same problem occurs when connected via LAN to a wireless bridge
(i.e., a different wireless modem).
