Virus that deletes hyphenated numbers (phone numbers)?

Hi all,

My mother has a Vista machine. When she opens an email that includeds
hyphenated numbers i.e. phone numbers, the numbers are deleted. Does
not happen when a dot or just spaces separate the numbers. If she
replies to an email, the numbers re-appear in the reply.

Also, any hyphenated number on a website is removed.

Is there a virus of malware that could be causing this. Adaware and
Norton have been updated and run without finding anything. I have also
search google groups and not found anything.

Your expert help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Keith

Hmmm, I don't have Vista, but why not go to one of the MS Vista groups
and ask there?? Mind you, I understand you should wear full body armour
of some sort!! (G)

Heather (and yes, I had to top post just once for old time's sake, grin)

There is NO malware (viral or non-viral) that will parse text and drop
a character like a hyphen !

That's silly.

Fully agree, but I wonder if there isn't some oddball setting in the
email part of Vista that she clicked on. Perhaps Joanie will know as
she has it. Or Mike, of course. Me, I wouldn't give Vista house room!!

Cheers.....Heather

Have Skype installed?
Any other add-ons that look for telephone numbers?
