Database Maintenance
General Database Maintenance - Over time an MS Access database can become
corrupt and can require some 'cleaning'. Access has a built-in function that
will, as it's name suggests, Compact and Repair the database. Depending on
the frequency of use of the database, the frequency of which a database must
be compacted and repaired may vary. However, a good practice to avoid this
issue altogether is to simply set the database to compact and repair on
close. This option can be set by going to the Tools-Options...-General Tab
and check the Compact on Close check box.

This is wrong. Corruption happens due to external events.
Corruption doesn't happen "over time"

That said you should be doing periodic compacts.
