Why when I copy and paste does the font and spacing change?

I am currently writing a 200 pg thesis and have written each chapter as a
separate document. When I copy and paste to put it all together in one
document, the font style and size gets changed and the spacing gets messed up
on block quotes. Is there something I can do to prevent this?
 
If you have based the documents on the same template, used the same styles
throughout and avoided manual formatting as far as possible, use the
'boiler' add-in you can download from my web site to insert the documents in
order - or simply use a series of IncludeText fields.
