Track Changes Does Not Save By Author

I've been having a problem with [color=blue! important][color=blue! important]documents[/color][/color] created using prior versions. When
track changes is on, revisions appear as different [color=blue! important][color=blue! important]colors[/color][/color] by author (as it
should) until I save the document. Then all revisions change to the same
color and no longer indicate the author.

I've checked my document settings and revisions are supposed to appear as
different colors by author.

Hoping someone could help me on this.
