Sent file

I no longer have any emails in my "sent" file. I deleted
the older group and now when I send an email it doesn't go
into the "sent" file.
How can I get this "sent" file to operate as it should?
 
Check the View on your sent items folder and make sure it isn't set to
"unread messages"
